Welcome to Maple Lane Structures. I would like to provide a brief introduction about our business. We relocated to Dillwyn, Virginia, in February 2012, from southern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Before the move, we were operating a shed manufacturing business in Pennsylvania. As our children grew, we realized that living next to our business might not be ideal for raising our family. This prompted us to explore opportunities in Virginia, where we purchased a small farmette in March 2012.

Initially, we hesitated to move immediately, as my younger brother and I were able to manage certain aspects of the business remotely. After the relocation, I continued to assist with operations at the Pennsylvania location, though I preferred not to handle tasks involving manufacturing, sales, or deliveries. By the spring of 2013, I transitioned out of office work.

That year, John King, owner of Spring Hollow Farm Market, encouraged me to establish operations here in Virginia. In the fall of 2013, we set up our local business, offering sheds, nautical items, and lawn furniture. Since then, we have been fully involved, balancing hands-on work with administrative duties.

Our family's business has deep roots. My grandfather started it many years ago, building the first gazebo in a tobacco barn using hand tools, such as saws and hammers. At that time, they had to move structures out of the shop using horses, with handyman jacks to load them, as there was no forklift available.

My father took over the business in [year], and eventually, there was increased demand for wooden sheds. During those early years, there were limited options for customization in terms of colors, styles, and sizes. In 1994, vinyl siding entered the shed market, and pressure mounted to begin offering vinyl sheds as well. I took over the business from my father in October 2014.
